its a saturday night at uncle #5's house.
came over to help him fix up his computer.
lenovo t60 needs some reformatting
and zyy decides to be nice by buying uncle #5 a webcam so that his wife in taiwan can see him : )
newly married couples are simply so sweet.
and oo. as i was helping him configure his microsoft outlook.
i spied a

hahaha. aint tt sweet? : )
seeing this couple really makes me ponder how long distance relationships work out.
just some background info.
my auntie-in-law is a taiwanese.
my uncle a singaporean.
they tied the knots a year back in taiwan.
they got to know each other when they attended some banking conference together.
i have only seen her like 2 times.
both when she visited during new year and another time on a holiday trip.
and she's a really nice lady.
:))
well.
i guess most people feel that ldrs are totally straining and they cudnt work most of the time coz it requires total commitment and trust in each other.
and yes. u do only see each other like. max 4 times a year since u do not live on the same continent.
the main form of communication would be through skype.msn.emails.
all through this lil machine called a computer and not really any human touch involved.
so what really keeps this r/s going on?
i asked uncle #5.
and this is what he said.
(thats not exactly what he said but he's damn po po ma ma so i chose to summarise things here : )) )
The main thing that keeps a ldr going is trust.
Without trust, u will be pondering and wondering if the other party's up to no good / cheating behind u on an island far far away.
Without trust, u will have heavy doubts over what the other party says. like she tells u she's out shopping alone and u start thinking if she went out with another guy there.
Trust can only be built up with time and experience.
Older men, like me ( *pointing to himself ) have an easier time putting trust in somebody.
like " wah lau eh. so old liao. u think my wife will still want to cheat on me meh"
(and there are like tonnes of rubbish he said that i forgot)
hahaha.
i found the last sentence pretty amusing though.
but yuppps!
to me.
i feel that distance aint really a factor to decide if u shud plunge into a r/s.
it determines how strain-ess of the r/s during the period of time apart.
but im still quite a fairytale-believer that .
if u really feel someone is worth it, no distance is far enuff man.
yesss.
distance does build up the inertia to meet up and suchs.
like see this scenario.
you stay in pasir ris.
gf stays in jurong west.
both of u work in shenton way.
after work. journey for the guy wud be.
shenton way -> jurong west -> pasir ris.
u'll reach home at least 10pm if work ends at 6pm.
and to consider that u have to wake up at 7am for work.
inertia to send her home increases :)
meeting up on saturdays will be.
pasir ris -> jurong west -> orchard -> jurong west -> pasir ris.
do a lil calculation here and there.
wah lau eh. u can travel to jb and still get some distance change lor.
haha.
and hmmm.
if tt guy drives.
40km + 20km + 20km + 40km = 120km.
and tts a whopping close to 30 bucks on petrol just on a date itself.
haha.
den like tt howwww.?
will pok gai one lehhh.
yes. definitely there will be the inertia to meet up / send tt person back home.
and u noe.
girls go " no need send me home lah! u so tired liao . must rest more!"
and when u go "orhh!"
they go "&*@^#*&@^*@^&*@^&*#^&*@^#"
hahahah. ive confirmed that with a few girl-friends and they totally agreed on that.
but ultimately.
i guess the deciding factor wud be this golden question.
"Is the girl worth it?"
imo, if tt certain girl is worth it, you will still bother traveling and doing stuffs for her though.
it may be tough! but well. i guess love makes everything shorten alot.
hahaha.
or maybe shall i quote from laobeng.
"make sure ur love for her is strong enuff till can tahan to marriage."
hahaha.
i think tts pretty funny coming from him.
speaking from first hand experience i suppose.
poor boy lah him.
have to travel so much for his gf.
and i guess that really showed how much yilin meant to him.
hahaha : ))
well . as an engineer. i guess we follow this equation.
if worthiness of girl > travelling distance.
u'll travel anywhere for her. even if it means taking a ferry to pulau ubin where she stays with the chickens and grow kangkong everyday.
haahha.
distance shudnt be a factor in getting together with somebody.
and what really matters shud be how that person really is :)
haha.im getting tired.
and thus,
good night world
:)
and here's a really nice video emotypuss sent me.
lol
ill blast it in shanghai everyday lor.
:)))
and its really sweet : )
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZiUEbJbAGNo
this clip cant be embedded but its really nice :))
and i guess thats how u feel about the other party when ure in love :))
Well I'll never forget the first time that I heard
That pretty mouth say that dirty word
And I can't even remember now what she backed my truck into
But she covered her mouth and her face got red
And she just looked so darn cute
That I couldn't even act like I was mad
Yeah I live for little moments like that
Well that's just like last year on my birthday
She lost all track of time and burnt the cake
And every smoke detector in the house was goin' off
And she was just about the cry until I took her in my arms
And I tried not to let her see me laugh
Yeah I live for little moments like that
I know she's not perfect but she tries so hard for me
And I thank God that she isn't 'cause how boring would that be
It's the little imperfections it's the sudden change in plans
When she misreads the directions and we're lost but holdin' hands
Yeah I live for little moments like that
When she's layin' on my shoulder on the sofa in the dark
And about the time she falls asleep so does my right arm
And I want so bad to move it 'cause it's tinglin' and it's numb
But she looks so much like an angel that I don't wanna wake her up
Yeah I live for little moments
When she steals my heart again and doesn't even know it
Yeah I live for little moments like that
i wanna grow old like tt lao ah pek couple :)
