i cant help but feel sad about the 5 dragonboaters incident which happened in cambodia.
this november is such a sad month.
5 rowers.
nick's father.
jason's eujin.
it just makes me feel that life is so fragile.
something simple like an underwater current can sweep away lives easily.
or maybe like what laobeng/cheekeong says.
dirty waters.
reminds me of some old-time chinese horror movie i saw.
鬼拉脚.
it was kinda scary lah.
and i always dread watching tt movie when i was younger.

platypussy and me used to think tt dragonboat's quite a .
different sport.
u pump muscles everyday.
train everyday.
for tt minutes of glory.
and it doesnt really involve much technique.
you dont need to learn spin moves like basketball.
be agile and assess situations like rugby and handball.
techniques like swimming.
all you need is simply.
listen.
coordinate.
row.
u need muscles for it.
and i guess tts a skill u have to learn
but thinking a lil more about this sport.
you need.
the will to overcome fatigue.
the determination to get better.
the discipline to train hard.
and seriously sacrifice loads for the team.
for that.
i salute u rowers.
YOU#1 and YOU#5 were both rowers and i know what they've been through.
and u noe eh.
i kinda respect you guys for overcoming training and all.
and there's this lil regret in me not joining dragonboat in jc days.
well.
who noes.
my knee may have cuied earlier if ive join u canoeists.
a blessing in disguise maybe?
muahaha.

when i first learnt about the incident.
i was pretty allright about it.
maybe i wasnt directly related to any of those who died.
and i was busy preparing for examinations.
didnt have much time to think about it.
but stumbling upon reports after reports.
blog entries after blog entries.
i decided to read up a lil more.
find out a lil more info about the entire incident lah.

for those who didnt know.
quoting cna.

Mr Paraiso recounted what he saw.

He said: ''What I witnessed was the Singaporean team had already finished the race and was starting back to the point......for them to disembark.

"Unfortunately, during the time team players (were) getting off from the boat, the boat suddenly shook off and overturned. It happened so quickly."

He added: "The remaining players, the Singapore rowers, one by one floated and saved themselves and there were some railings that they were able to hold on.....

"All the players, I guess, were a little over-fatigued so they were not able to swim normally, so they just looked for something to hang on and the current was a bit strong. - CNA/ir

no lifejackets were worn for the 5 rowers.
and maybe tts what caused the tragedy.
i mean.
if its me in tt scenario.
i wudnt have worn tt lifejacket too ler.
i dont like the feeling of being constrained when im doing stuffs.
tight clothing.lifejackets.seatbelts.
hrm.
maybe i shud think a lil more about tt safety issue.
:)

sigh.
i stumbled upon this blog.
http://rememberingjerbroni.blogspot.com/
in memory of jeremy goh.
one of the 5 rowers.
tts when the tinges of sadness starts flowing in me.
seeing how.
relatives.
friends.
school mates.
even people he did not know.
posting comments and all for him.
angels by sarah mcLachlan didnt help much.
photos of training.
the sim dragons.
paddles up and all.
things like.

I remember how you were late that day and i took the assignment for you.
I remember how you took this stupid picture of me and started laughing at me.
I remember how you went to take the pictures (for the trip) at the instant photo booth in school: you took a super long time to prim yourself up in the toilet, and i laughed at your vain-ness.
I remember how both of us were searching for books in the library, and I kept giving silly suggestions. In the end, you picked up a book on entrepreneurship. When I asked if you'd read such serious stuff, and you said you'd used it to prop your head up when you sleep after your race set. i laughed.
I remember how i offered to get my dad to send you to the mrt station, you declined, and then changed your mind a while later.

saddens me quite alot.
sigh.

allright.
enough of emo-nemos.
think a lil more on the bright side.
things zyy will remember and learn from all these incidents.

1. zyy shall not compromise safety anymore. ( i will seriously try to put on my safety belt when i travel long distances ok? :) )

2. when doing lifesaving duties. be vigilant but not too garang bah. want to save pple den in the end kena saved not very nice ah. assess situation first. woots.

3. be a nice lifeguard and take duties seriously. i may just save another person one way or another u noe. :)

4. cherish people around me and never take them for granted. :) i seriously cannot imagine close friends like xxx and yyy and zzz leaving me.(im not gonna put names here. later u guys say i curse u. pui. ) wah lau eh.the YOU#1 - YOU#5 ! u guys better stay healthy and live happily! we still want to buy a stretch of terrace houses and knock off all the walls and our kiddos can have 3on3 soccer league leh!.there has to be a day when we'll leave the comfort of each other. BUT NOT NOW!! YOU PUNDEHS! :D

i cant think of anything more lah.
ahaha.
3206 here i come.
i think the thought of having my nxt paper on tues makes me a lil unmotivated to study.
pui.
i shall solo-out and study today.
balabababa.
